Vulnerability In Business Leadership

Abney Strategy Cofounder, Rob Abney, Discusses The Benefits of Vulnerability In Business.

Rob Abney talks about the importance of leaning into your own vulnerability as a small business owner or team leader, with Susan Blain on The Sharing with Susan B interview series.

Find Comfort In Yourself

I sat down with Sharing with Susan B host, Susan Blain, to share how being vulnerable has formed my unique approach to coaching, leadership and building a business. Throughout the short chat, we focused on how our personal triumphs and shortfalls help us understand ourselves so that we can help others.

Susan asked me to take her on a journey of the life of Rob Abney. I brought her into my world of self-doubt, identify crisis, imposter syndrome and how I eventually learned how to be comfortable with myself and embrace my identity and experience.

Leading With Empathy

Everyone wants to be a leader but few truly understand that amount of energy it takes to lead people. You are responsible for not only their work but their energy. Your team takes their cues from you when it comes to how they treat their work and how they treat each other. It's important that you lead with your teams best interest in mind and make sure they are aware of it. In turn, they will put the teams best interests up front as well.
